Those hoping to live a glamorous celebrity lifestyle during their South of France holiday may wish to rent their own private villa on the Cote d'Azur.

This particular region has been named by the Telegraph as one of the top ten best places to spot famous people on holiday.

Indeed, numerous celebrities have been seen enjoying a break on the Cote d'Azur, from Sir Elton John to Angelina Jolie.

The newspaper points out the towns like Cannes and St Tropez attract the rich and famous in their droves and have done for centuries.

Many places on the Cote d'Azur are also known to have inspired artists like Picasso and Matisse, so will be sure to please culture vultures.

Visitors can hire yachts and mingle with the stars, relax on the beach or hit the shops for some seriously luxurious retail therapy.

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster have been spotted holidaying on the Cote d'Azur recently.

The couple took their three-year-old son Alistair away for a break in the sun.

Pictures in the Daily Mail showed Penny taking the youngster to a funfair in Cannes where they rode the carousel and walked along the beach.

Families can rent their own private South of France villa in Cannes and drive to St Tropez for a day trip.
