Book a Bordeaux holiday and enjoy the finer things of life

South of France villa holiday makers will find plenty of ways to enjoy themselves in Aquitaine, which is famous for destinations such as Bordeaux and Biarritz, it has been claimed.

Enjoying the flowing fine wine, lazy meals extending over hours and plenty of good company, one travel writer explained how his walking holiday in the Aquitaine region turned out to be everything he had hoped for.

Bharati Motwani wrote in the Business Standard how the south-west corner of the country remains "undiscovered, undefiled and innocent".

He said: "If ever there were a people who had it all - the Bordeaux, the beauty, the foie gras and the French kiss, the Cezannes and the scenery - it would be here.

"Besides, it’s hardly fair that a nation so preoccupied with food and drink should be so slender."

Mr Motwani highlighted the many exquisite walking opportunities in the region, around the Pyrenees, taking pains to emphasise the great beauty on display throughout Aquitaine - whether it’s the changing colour of the seasons in the valleys below or the quaint houses with their traditional architecture.

Those taking a Bordeaux villa holiday will find plenty of fantastic restaurants and fine foods, including entrecote marchand de vin, a popular local dish consisting of rib steak cooked in Bordeaux wine gravy.
