Book Provence villas to see some pro sailing

People with a passion for watersports can book Provence villas this Easter to see a major event in the Mediterranean waters off France's south coast.

The 45th International Mediterranean Sailing Week contest is set to take place in Marseille between April 2nd and 5th this year.

Organised by the Societe Nautique de Marseille, the meeting is traditionally the first major regatta of the spring.

It is a high-profile competition that has attracted some of the biggest names in international sailing to the south of France since 1965.

People planning Provence villa holidays this year will have opportunities to see a number of events organised by the Societe Nautique de Marseille, including the Calanques 2010 Classic in May and the Quadrasolo 2010 contest in August.

Marseille also boasts plenty of attractions on land, such as its historic port area, the church of Notre Dame de la Garde and public gathering points like Cours Julien and La Corniche.

Other popular holiday cities in Provence include Nice, Avignon and Cannes.
