Afandou is a bustling village offering a good selection of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and a long stretch of beach; several sections of which have been awarded a Blue Flag for cleanliness. Most of the beach is well equipped with sun beds, umbrellas and even a few water sports facilities, and the calm, shallow waters makes Afandou an ideal holiday resort for families. Another attraction during the summer season is a miniature train which makes regular runs from the main square to the village and the beach. Afandou also features a fantastic 18-hole golf course, overlooking the sea, designed by famous British architect Donald Harradine. Holiday makers based here are superbly located for exploring Rhodes; just a short drive from the waterpark and other attractions of Faliraki, and about 30 minutes from charming Rhodes Town.
