Watch the Equine Fiesta on a Menorca villa holiday
According to What's on When, the event is held from August 29th to 31st and sees crowds flock to watch some spectacular displays of horsemanship.
Riders dressed in traditional costumes take to the town's streets to compete in a test of skill against their fellow participants.
More than 50 competitors practice a variety of skills and run several races in the hope of winning one of a number of titles at the festival.
As well as equine displays, there will also be music concerts and fireworks, which should keep the whole family entertained.
The Equine Fiesta follows a similar event in Alaior on August 15th and 16th, which also features a presentation of rider skills, including the jaleo, where horses are encouraged to rear up on their hind legs amid the spectators.
Those who wish to head to San Lluis to catch the Equine Fiesta could rent a Menorca villa in the capital Mahon, which is close to the town.
With its bustling waterfront and natural harbour, it is also the perfect base from which to discover more about Menorca's rich history.
