Tips for driving around Menorca villas

Brits who are planning on hiring a car while on a getaway abroad, such as in Menorca villas, have been urged to learn the rules of the destination's roads first.

This is after a new study conducted by Sainsbury's Finance acknowledged that 13 per cent of UK holiday makers have driven on the wrong side of the road.

Men were found to be the most prone to commit this traffic offence, with 1.76 million males admitting to this fault, compared to 483,000 females who performed the same dangerous activity.

Other issues highlighted in the research included 1.3 million Brits driving the wrong way up a one-way street and 880,000 individuals breaking laws because they misread a road sign.

Ben Tyte, head of car insurance at Sainsbury's Finance, told holiday makers: "Drivers taking their cars abroad need to prepare, not just because they'll be driving on the other side of the road, but because laws differ from country to country."

If Brits take care when in journeying around villas in Menorca though, they could take in such attractions as the Roman sight of Ecomuseu de Cap de Cavalleria, found west of Fornells, and Mahon's Fortress La Mola, which dates back to the 1800s.
