Sample local gin on a Menorca villa holiday

For a taste of the real Menorca, those enjoying Mahon villa holidays on the island should head to the Xoriguer Distillery.

Located in the island's capital, the attraction gives visitors the opportunity to try numerous varieties of Menorcan gin.

Huge copper sills are used to produce the spirit, which is then mixed with juniper berries, resulting in a unique taste.

Holiday makers can take a guided tour of the distillery to hear more about the history of gin production on the island.

They can then sample the gin and some of the other liquors made in the factory before buying their favourites in the distillery shop.

Those planning Menorca villa holidays could stay in Mahon, which is home to a number of other attractions, including its impressive harbour - one of the largest natural harbours in the world.

In the evening, tourists can enjoy some delicious seafood overlooking the port, as Menorca is renowned for its fish dishes.
