Menorca villa occupiers urged 'get travel insurance'
Brits who are intending to fly abroad this summer, perhaps to Menorca villas, have been told to always take out travel insurance before their getaway.
Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA The Travel Association, believes that the fact that one in five overseas trips are done by uninsured travellers is "a fairly shocking statistic".
He pointed out that there is every chance that a holiday maker could see their health take a turn for the worse and require medical aid.
"In most instances, the only place you can claim for those extra costs would be on your insurance and in some cases those bills can be very high, especially in America," Mr Tipton acknowledged.
The expert even warned that some countries could fail to treat those without travel insurance, thus noting that "saving that small amount of money represents a false economy".
Recently, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office revealed that if going to visit friends or family abroad, young travellers would opt to buy their host a present over obtaining travel insurance policies.
