Menorca villa holiday great for archaeology buffs
According to an article in the Irish Independent, the second largest of the Balearic Islands is home to a number of excavation spots.
It also has numerous cave systems that are perfect for exploring and some ancient ruins that make it a "hotspot for excursions".
Architecture buffs will also find something to marvel at on the island, since it is home to the La Mola Fortress over Mao harbour and 15th century monastery the Museu de Menorca.
Ciutadella is favourite day trip destination for holiday makers too, with its 13th century cathedral which features some intricate stone carvings of mythical creatures.
Families eager to explore the archaeological and architectural history of Menorca could rent villas in Torre Soli, which is in a fairly central location on the island so is a perfect base from which to reach most sites.
The village is set on a hill surrounded by beautiful countryside and offering spectacular views out to sea.
