Get a real taste of Menorca in Xoriguer

The 18th century Xoriguer Distillery has been at the forefront of the Mediterranean island's alcohol industry for hundreds of years and is also one of its most popular attractions.

For those who like a tipple on their travels, the distillery has a prime location on the harbour front of Mahon and offers tours that allow visitors to come face-to-face with the giant wood-fuelled copper stills that house batches of the spirit - which are blended with juniper berries to make the unique and aromatic gin.

The liquor is stored in oak barrels before bottling and over-18s can even sample some of the distillery's top tipples - as it makes a range of alcoholic drinks - and purchase them direct from the site in its shop at the end of the informative tour.

A Xoriguer gin and tonic could be the perfect drink to sip beside a private pool in Punta Prima as holiday makers get to taste the real Menorca.
