Cultural enthusiasts can 'capture the castle' on a Menorca holiday
Found almost 300 metres above sea level, the castle is sited at the top of an archaic cobbled Roman road that explorers could love trekking up for the vibrant vistas.
The climb pays off when holiday makers are faced with wonderful views from the top and the ruins of the former stronghold reveal the island's history with its combination of Roman and Moorish characteristics.
It is claimed that the castle is the site where the Moors surrendered the beautiful Balearic island to King Alfonso III of Aragon in the 13th century and villa holiday makers can surrender their senses to its beauty.
The area is a habitat for a range of flora and fauna, while many bird and animal species call it home.
For a laidback holiday, Cala Blanca could be the perfect choice with its golden sandy beach surrounded by pine tress and the island's size means that wherever you stay, you are just a short drive from its many attractions.
