Book a Menorca holiday and delve into history
Menorca may not be the first place that history buffs think of as a potential holiday destination, but the island actually has an array of ancient sites to discover.
In an article for Golf International, journalist David Brice said Menorca has a different character to the other Balearic Islands, with deserted beaches and bronze-age monuments.
He said that the island's capital Mahon is a "delightful" old town that holiday makers can explore easily on foot.
"On the opposite end of the island, yet still only 20 miles away, sits Ciutadella, the original capital chosen by the Romans as their main harbour, which today is perhaps the most atmospheric port town in the entire Mediterranean," he added.
Mr Brice recommended a walk though Ciutadella's winding cobbled streets, past baroque churches and ancient convents, stopping to take pictures along the way.
Those renting Menorca villas in Cala Blanes will be able to do just this, as Ciutadella is just minutes away by car or local bus.
Mahon is also easily accessible for those who rent cars, as the island's main road leads from Ciutadella directly to the capital, passing local towns such as Ferreries and es Mercadal along the way.
