Tuck into tapas on a Mallorca villa holiday
People with a passion for good food can take the opportunity to try tapas - one of the staples of traditional Spanish cuisine - during Mallorca villa holidays this year.
Writing in the Guardian, Annabelle Thorpe encouraged gastronomes to pay a visit to Palma, the Balearic island's historic capital.
Ms Thorpe said that the labyrinthine network of medieval streets and alleyways in the city hides "an impressive array of tapas bars and bodegas", which range from the "pleasingly ramshackle to gleamingly minimalist".
Prices for tapas dishes start from just €2 (£1.70), meaning visitors can enjoy the variety of cheeses, meats, vegetables, breads and other options available during a Mallorca holiday without breaking the bank.
The Guardian writer recommended a visit to the Portixol area just outside the centre of Palma, which is home to a number of restaurants around a small beach that serve mussels and other dishes that can be combined with mojitos.
Popular tapas dishes to look out for during a Mallorca villa break include patatas bravas, small kebabs known locally as 'pintxos' and polenta with tomato, rocket and coriander.
