Thomson Airways introducing eco flights to Mallorca villas

People who visit Mallorca villas will soon be able to do so while flying on more economical aircraft, courtesy of Thomson Airways.

The airline will debut the first UK flight that will operate on sustainable biofuel, which will take its initial journey from Birmingham to Palma on July 28th, pending the success of a stringent testing process and final safety clearance.

Such a method could see aviation emissions reduced by a significant 80 per cent in the long term.

Following the first flight by the unique Thomson Airways aircraft, the plan is to operate weekly flights along the route, which gives a gateway to villas in Mallorca, every week from September.

Chris Browne, managing director at the airline company, commented: "Sustainability is key to this investment. Sustainable biofuels offer us the opportunity to improve our own individual environmental performance as well as contributing to the UK's carbon reduction target."

There is plenty to explore if Brits choose to take flights to Mallorca this summer, from the sun-kissed beach resort of Cala Varques to the fascinating canyons of the Torrent de Coanegra.
