September 'among cheapest times to take Mallorca holidays'
September is one of the cheapest times to take an overseas break such as a Mallorca villa holiday, according to recent research.
Santander Cards carried out a study which highlighted the fact that trips abroad become substantially more expensive during the school holiday period in August.
Once the school term begins again in September, prices for overseas getaways fall by an average of 33 per cent from their August peak, the report revealed.
However, Mallorca villa holidays could also be a good option for families who are tied to the school break period, as Santander Cards found that trips to the island had the lowest average summer premium of 16 per cent.
This compared to a typical increase of 38 per cent in prices for trips abroad between mid-July and mid-August.
Post Office Travel Money released a report last month which suggested that holidays to Spain could be one of the most affordable options for Britons this year following a "price crash" in the eurozone.
Prices were found to have fallen by more than 40 per cent in both Portugal and Spain over the past year.
