See the 'best beach in Europe' on a Mallorca holiday

Review website Onbeach.com compared more than 3,000 beaches in the western part of the continent and named Platja A'Amarador as the best, in news that may interest people booking Mallorca holidays.

Situated close to Mallorca villa hotspot Porto Petro, the sandy sanctuary was rated on more than 100 criteria, reports Focus on Travel News.

These included cleanliness, facilities and suitability for swimming, the report revealed.

Gerben van Dam, managing director of Onbeach.com, told the news provider that the site's team had travelled to every beach in at least four countries.

"The quality of a beach is very important to tourists. Many like to spend most of their time at the beach," the executive said.

A small fishing village, Porto Petro is home to a number of good-quality seafood restaurants and is in the Cala D'Or region of the island.
