See 'charming' Deia on a Mallorca holiday
Travellers planning to do a spot of exploring during a Mallorca villa holiday this summer might be interested in visiting the town of Deia on the north coast.
The destination recently received a glowing review from Daily Mail writer Roderick Gilchrist, who described it as "a nugget of mountain charm".
Mr Gilchrist set off on an adventure into the Tramuntana mountains during his Mallorca holiday, with a bit of help from a trio of donkeys.
The writer said that his high-altitude excursion was in distinct contrast to his expectations of a holiday "comprising mainly of sand, sea and sangria".
People who take the opportunity to visit Deia during a Mallorca villa break can admire the spectacular natural surroundings of the Tramuntana mountain range, an area that is populated by olive groves, lemon orchards and pine forests.
Mr Gilchrist also recommended a tour of the town itself, which boasts "labyrinthine" alleys that form a network around stone houses and lead up to a 14th century church.
Sun lovers can pay a visit to the Cala Deia beach to spend some time relaxing by the sea.
