Refurbished attraction set to boost Mallorca holidays
A castle in Felanitx is set to be refurbished as part of a project that could boost the popularity of Mallorca holidays.
Preparations are underway to redevelop the historic castle of Santueri with the aim of creating a new tourist attraction in the area, Euro Weekly News reported.
The 800-year-old building is situated at the top of a hillside populated by olive trees, a location that offers panoramic views across the sea.
While the site is not currently open to the public, holiday makers staying in Mallorca villas will be able to visit the castle in future if a plan launched by Biel Cerda, director of island heritage, comes to fruition.
The owners of the site have reportedly provided their consent for it to be opened six days a week, once the refurbishment work is completed.
In the meantime, people taking Mallorca holidays can visit other sites of historical interest on the island, such as the cathedral and the ancient baths located in Palma.
