Raor fishing season commences in Mallorca
Brits who are hoping to sample some unique food while on a getaway may want to snap up villas in Mallorca.
Fishermen across the popular Spanish island are now able to participate in the raor fishing season, which began on September 1st.
The prestigious Mediterranean animals are usually between 15 and 20 centimetres long, though longer lengths can sometimes be discovered, and are commonly valued because of their delicate white flesh.
However, people only have until the end of March to catch some raor fish to sample how they taste, as a seasonal ban occurs between April and August of each year.
This is due to the need to protect the species as a result of dwindling numbers, while catches are usually restricted to no more than five kilograms per fisherman.
Nature fans may also want to book into Mallorca villas after the Balearic department for the environment recently revealed that a family of rare European vultures, the neophron percnopterus, have bred on the island.
It is the first time since 2006 that the endangered species have carried out the natural wonder in the Spanish destination.
