Pollensa holiday makers enjoy 'car-free zone'
Britons taking a villa holiday in the Mallorca resort of Pollensa will soon be able to take a stroll down the seafront without having to worry about traffic.
According to the Mallorca Daily Bulletin, a stretch of seafront road between calle Elcano and Avenida de Paris has been converted into a pedestrian zone.
Signposts marking out the new zone will be erected this week and public buses will be the only vehicles permitted to travel through the new child-friendly zone.
Situated in the north of Mallorca, the resort of Pollensa is popular with holiday makers looking for exquisite scenery, excellent facilities and warm sandy beaches.
Popular activities for those staying in Pollensa include taking a trip across the bay on a glass-bottomed boat, journeying to the vineyards of Ca'n Vidalet and travelling to the nearby mountain village of Deia.
Meanwhile, officials in the resort are considering at lifting a section of the seafront road between the Bay of pollensa and Alcudia in order to extend the beach, according to reports.
