Plans revealed to make new theme park in Mallorca

People booking up villas in Mallorca in the future could be able to take in a new theme park during their stay.

This is after the Theme Park Club Group revealed plans to officials on the popular Spanish island to make a fresh attraction somewhere in the destination.

Details of the theme park were set out by the Danish firm in a meeting which saw the regional government's president Jose Ramon Bauza and councils from Llucmajor and Palma present.

Both resorts are being considered to be the home of the new attraction, with Campos also in with a shout.

Once built, it is expected that families staying in Mallorca villas will have access to a 110-hectare park, complete with five areas.

Ideas being tabled include having a space dedicated to the island and its history, with pirate-themed rides and tropical atmospheres featured in other parts of the venue.

Mallorca has already proved a popular holiday hot spot this year, if new figures released by AENA, the Spanish airport holding company, are anything to go by.

According to the group, almost three million people passed through the island's Son Sant Joan airport during September.
