Mallorcan sausages
Sobrassada is celebrated in Mallorca and is a raw, cured sausage, made with ground pork, paprika and salt and other spices.
Most fairs that involve the special product include a great deal of tasting and visitors can expect to enjoy a lively atmosphere while sampling some of the areas delicious delicacies.
Sausages are not the only meat on the menu when Mallorca enjoys its festivals, botifarrons (a lean meat paste) and camaiots are eaten along with pork bacon and pate.
Sobrassada is the main pork produce of the island however and in 1996 the Balearic government set-up the Sobrassada de Mallorca, an organisation protecting quality produce that is recognised by the EU.
Visitors to the island can work off the sausages by taking long walks around the region which includes beaches, hills and small towns.
