Mallorca villas: Protecting a home when on holiday
Brits have been given some advice when it comes to protecting their home and its contents while on holiday, such as when visiting Mallorca villas.
Phil Paterson-Fox, head of home services at Gocompare.com, acknowledged that those who have taken out buildings and content insurance policies will be covered during their getaway.
However, Mr Paterson-Fox noted that some insurers only cover for a certain number of days, so this should be checked by families who are preparing for a long trip away to villas in Mallorca.
The expert was also keen to point out that there are many things that a person can do themselves in order to protect their home during a holiday.
He explained: "…Stopping your newspaper delivery, asking a neighbour to collect your post and open and close curtains, and using timers to turn on the TV or lights at certain times of the day can make your home far less attractive."
The advice comes soon after esure research found that ten per cent of property owners opt to leave their television on when their house is unoccupied.
