Mallorca villas: Contactless cash machines coming to island
Brits who have decided to spend some of the summer season in Mallorca villas will be able to try out a technological enhancement.
The La Caixa savings bank has installed contactless automatic teller machines into its branch of the popular Spanish island.
Developed by Japanese IT services firm Fujitsu, the technology means that holiday makers need only wave their debit cards next to a reader in order to use a machine.
They will still have to insert their PIN code before withdrawing cash or carrying out other banking transactions, meaning the device is safe and secure for those staying in villas in Mallorca.
"According to technical figures, this is the fastest automatic teller machine cash withdrawal system on the market," La Caixa noted in a statement.
Once tourists have drawn out their necessary funds, a Travelbite.co.uk writer advised taking a trip to Palma Nova, a resort that has "all the makings of an exciting holiday abroad".
