Mallorca villas: Ash cloud 'could be heading to UK'
Brits seeking quick getaways to run out the last days of May abroad, perhaps in Mallorca villas, have been told of the threat of another ash cloud.
The eruption of the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland has led to ash and smoke rising high into the air.
It has also already been described as "bigger and more intensive" than Eyjafjallajokull's eruption in April 2010, which crippled airspace across Europe.
Even more worrying is that latest five-day weather forecasts predict that the ash cloud could reach UK skies by tomorrow (May 24th).
Commenting on the situation this time, a spokesman at the Civil Aviation Authority said: "We do not envisage the same kind of blanket closures of airspace we experienced last year. Airlines will be able to operate in lower concentrations of ash providing they can present us with a safety case."
Gunnar Gudmundsson, of Iceland's Meteorological Office, also reassured those hoping to jet off to holiday villas this week, by saying that the ash "is not as fine" as in last year's cloud, so should not be as problematic.
