Mallorca villa guests 'should not miss Palma Cathedral'
People planning to do some sightseeing during a Mallorca villa holiday this year have been urged to see Palma Cathedral, which is one of the island's most famous landmarks.
The Spanish Tourist Office describes the historic building as "a jewel of Gothic architecture".
Situated over the walls of Palma de Mallorca's old town, the cathedral comprises three separate naves, one of which is home to the Trinidad chapel and the remains of the kings Jaime II and Jaime III.
People who visit the attraction during a Mallorca villa holiday should look out for a number of sculptures by Guillermo Sagrera that decorate the facade.
Guests can also see a ceramic mural, stained glass windows and other works created by the artist Miquel Barcelo in the Santisimo chapel.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Palma Cathedral is its tower, which features nine bells including one known as 'N'Eloi', which measures two metres in diameter and weighs more than 4,500 kilos.
There are many other attractions worth visiting during a Mallorca villa holiday, such as Bellver Castle and the Pueblo Espanol architectural museum in Palma.
