Mallorca is heaven on earth for TV presenter

TV presenter Kirsty Wark has named the Spanish island of Mallorca as her piece of heaven on earth in an article for the Telegraph.

The Newsnight host said she first visited Mallorca seven years ago when she want to see some friends and fell in love with it instantly.

She said it is important to remember that the Mallorca depicted on many tourist postcards is not an accurate representation of the island.

"The real Mallorca is this wonderful lush landscape, especially in the hills, with stunning scenery, great plant life and the perfect climate," she remarked.

According to Ms Wark, Mallorca is great for hiking, although holiday makers can partake in numerous other activities, from the strenuous to the relaxing.

For example, she said she often spends time reading, playing tennis and exploring the island's flea markets during her Mallorca holidays.

Those eager to explore the island on foot, like Ms Wark, could rent a villa in Puerto Pollensa, where they can walk along the coastline in search of some remote beaches that are inaccessible by car.
