Mallorca holidays offer 'the best of Spain in one place'
Writing for the Irish Times, Adrienne Cullen said Mallorca's capital Palma has all the style of Barcelona, Valencia and Seville.
"If you were to distil all that's best about Spain into one little city, plant it on a bijou island and drop it in the middle of the Mediterranean, then you'd have Palma, the ancient capital of Mallorca," the writer insisted.
Holiday makers could take in the "magnificent" Gothic cathedral of La Seu, explore the "atmospheric" cobbled lanes of the medieval old town and visit the 14th century Bellver Castle with its "extraordinary" double moat.
Afterwards, a leisurely stroll along the seafront and a traditional Spanish meal overlooking the yachts in the marina could be just the thing to round off an afternoon in Palma.
Families renting private Mallorca villas in Sa Rapita will be able to spend a day in the city, which is just 40 minutes away by car.
The coastal village also has its own small marina and is just a short walk from the three-kilometre long beach of Es Trenc.
