Mallorca holidays 'offer more than just sun, sea and sand'

Those looking to get active and explore while abroad should not discount Mallorca villa holidays, as the island offers much more than just sun, sea and sand.

In an article for the South Wales Echo, journalist Lisa Jones said Mallorca is rich in history, architecture, art and cuisine.

She claimed there are a wealth of sports and leisure activities to be enjoyed on the island, from sailing on the Mediterranean Sea to cycling in the mountains.

The Tramuntanas mountain range is particularly popular among cyclists, while hikers also enjoy the fantastic views from the top.

Ms Jones insisted that the capital Palma makes a great day out for those who enjoy immersing themselves in the local culture.

She said many visitors to Mallorca head straight for the beach resorts and forget to explore the city.

"This is a mistake as it is bursting with attractions, such as the cathedral, the Arab baths and the March Palace," she stated.

Those renting Mallorca villas in Alcudia may find they are in a great spot for exploring, as Palma is just an hour's drive away, while the Tramuntanas mountains are also within easy reach.

The popular resort also offers a wide variety of water sports and other activities, while day trips are available to various parts of the island.
