Mallorca holidays 'a hit with Germans'
The island came second in a list of the ten most popular holiday choices for German tourists compiled by the GIATA-Ranking Agency, according to the Bulgarian Union of Tourism Investors.
Sofia News Agency notes that the list was based on 16,000 travel agencies in Germany and saw Mallorca holidays topped only by trips to Spain.
The news emerges after director and producer Michael Winner praised the destination's culinary charms in his column for the Times.
Commenting on a visit to Deia, the thespian described the region's food as "stupendous" and pointed out that the menu in one restaurant was in English, French and Spanish for the ease of travellers.
Meanwhile, Rough Guides notes that the island is one of the Mediterranean's "most beautiful and popular", offering activities including hiking, birdwatching and beach fun.
