Mallorca holiday for King Juan Carlos

King Juan Carlos participated in a yachting event the Kings Cup regatta while on a Mallorca holiday.

Watched by his granddaughters Princess Sofia and Princess Leonor, who were enjoying the Mallorcan sun with their parents, Princess Letizia and Crown Prince Felipe, the monarch skippered royal vessel Bribon for the sailing occasion.

A brief loss of footing while the king was in charge of the vessel did not deter him from recovering to resume his position at the wheel of the yacht.

King Juan Carlos was a member of the 1972 Olympic sailing team for Spain, based in Munich.

Non-royals who share in the monarch's enthusiasm for the water may be interested in a Mallorca villa in Cala d'or.

The resort offers a number of watersports facilities, as well as glass-bottomed boats, golf, horse riding and beaches.
