Journey underground to the centre of Mallorca

Full of history and natural wonders, there are guided tours on offer for anyone who is a little afraid of the dark.

They will be well-rewarded for their journeys by the beautiful views of Canyamel Bay as they emerge.

Inside one of the main attractions is the Queen of Pillars – a stalagmite which has grown to be 22 metres tall. It is thought that it has been growing upwards at a rate of two centimetres every 100 years.

The caves are 46 metres above the sea at Cap Vermell on the Capdepera east coast of the island.

After a trek underground, tourists may wish to get a bit of sunlight and enjoy a stroll around one of Mallorca's weekly markets which are held in the towns across the island.
