Global Ocean Race to start in Mallorca
Brits who head to Mallorca villas later this month will have the chance to see a special water pursuit get underway.
Vessels taking part in this year's Global Ocean Race are to depart from Palma on September 25th to mark the start of the event.
Such a decision marks the first time that Mallorca has been chosen as the destination to begin the tournament, with an official opening last week getting the countdown started.
Upon departing from Palma, participants will pass through Cape Town, South Africa, Wellington, New Zealand, Punta del Este, Uruguay and the US resort of Charleston.
People booking up villas in Mallorca in May 2012 will also be pleased to hear that the 30,000 nautical-mile trek is to finish in the Spanish destination too.
Mallorca looks to be a popular getaway spot for tourists this year, with 3,464,972 people passing through the island's Son Sant Joan airport in August, according to AENA, the Spanish airport holding company.
