Fall under the spell of Deia on a Mallorca holiday

Those looking to experience the real Mallorca on their villa holiday could take a day trip to the hilltop village of Deia.

In an article for the Times newspaper, travel journalist Sue Mallia explained that Deia has been inspiring artists, writers and musicians for more than a century.

She said numerous visitors to Mallorca have fallen under the village's spell and claimed it is easy to understand why.

"Honeycoloured stone houses, set among silvery-green olive trees, tall palms and orange and lemon trees, cling to slopes overlooking the deep blue Mediterranean," she said describing the scene that meets tourists in Deia.

Ms Mallia said that within the village itself, cobbled streets weave through gardens bursting with the colour of fruit trees and flowers.

She explained that the countryside around Deia is great for walking, with many holiday makers choosing the autumn months to visit when the weather is more conducive to physical activity.

Mallorca villas in Sa Pobla could be a good choice for those planning a day out in Deia, as the village is easily accessible by car from this countryside town.

Sa Pobla is set in an area known as the land of a thousand windmills and is described as the vegetable basket of Mallorca.
