Enjoy some classical music on a Mallorca villa holiday
Holiday makers will be able to add some culture to their Mallorca villa breaks this year by attending some events celebrating the life and work of Frederic Chopin.
Venues across the island will be participating in the Chopin Year initiative, which has been arranged to mark the fact that 2010 represents the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth.
The Mallorca tourist board states that Chopin will "always be tied" to the island and to Valldemossa, where he lived for a short time.
Valldemossa will be at the centre of the Chopin Year celebrations, hosting a series of weekly concerts between August 1st and 29th.
People on Mallorca villa holidays will be able to attend the first performance in the Carthusian monastery square, with the following four events set to be staged in the cloister of the religious building.
The series will feature appearances by musicians including Rafal Blechacz, who won first prize at the 15th Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005.
Several other events are being scheduled throughout the year, including educational talks and exhibitions.
