Copa del Rey, Mallorca
Spain's most historic and prestigious regatta, the Copa del Rey (King's cup), will return to Mallorca this summer.
Running from July 28th to August 4th, Palma will welcome an impressive list of international participants, and hold races in many different classes.
The Spanish royal family are well known for being keen yachtsmen, and their participation in the Copa del Rey over the years - with The King of Spain Juan Carlos I, Crown Prince Felipe (Prince of Asturias) and Princess Christina all frequent participants - has enhanced both the profile and the cachet of the regatta.
Spectators looking for a break in watching the races can try people-watching instead and sample some of the many restaurants, bars and shops along the Paseo Maritimo promenade, which runs all the way from the famous Club de Mar yacht club to The Palma Royal Nautical Club at the other end.
Even with the world's attention drawn to the 32nd America's cup, held in Valencia over on the mainland, this year's event is anticipated to remain the most glamorous regatta in the entire Mediterranean.
