Changes coming for those driving around Mallorca

People who are considering hiring a car while staying in villas in Mallorca have been told of changes coming to some of the major routes on the island.

The Council of Mallorca has announced that it is to turn off 17 per cent of lampposts on its motorways and dual carriageways, See Mallorca reported.

Such a decision has been made in an attempt to reduce the electricity bills which the institute encounters, with up to €1.6 million (£1.39 million) expected to be saved.

Lighting will only be turned off on stretches of road where the extra brightness is deemed unnecessary, with entrances and exits to major routes retaining their illumination.

In other developments to interest those looking to take flights to Mallorca villas, the Theme Park Club Group is planning to base a new attraction on the Spanish island.

Campos, Llucmajor and Palma are among the resorts in the running to receive the 110-hectare theme park.
