Cannes is usually the place that film stars flock to as they promote their new movies, but soon Mallorca will be the place to go.
A new international film festival will be launched on the island in 2011, attracting celebrities from around the world.
Those booking Mallorca villa holidays may just bump into one or two if they head to the right places.
The organisers of the event are hoping that it will give a boost to the island's tourism industry by attracting more visitors.
Spanish film director David Carreras told the Daily Mail that Mallorca is a "stunning" island and the perfect destination to hold such an event.
"Apart from the exhibition of films and the media attraction for the red carpet, the festival will organise multiple parallel events such as concerts, performances, and gastronomic shows," he remarked.
A number of celebrities have already fallen for Mallorca's charms, including Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas, who are often seen holidaying on the island.
Tennis ace Rafa Nadal, who was born in Mallorca, is also a fan and has been promoting his homeland in a new tourism campaign, according to thinkSPAIN.
Mallorca villas in Cala d'or may be a great choice for those hoping to spot a famous face, as the resort is trendy and chic and may attract A-listers.
It is also just an hour away from the capital Palma, where celebs like to hang out when they visit Mallorca.
