Book a Mallorca holiday for a 'soulful' experience
Mallorca is known for being a tourist hotspot, but it is far from soulless, one travel writer has insisted.
In an article for the Star Tribune, Raphael Kadushin said many visitors are surprised by the authenticity they find on the island.
And also some resorts are bustling with holiday makers, there are plenty of places in Mallorca where culture and history can be found in abundance.
"The Homeric scenery and the whiff of poetry cast Mallorca as a contender for one of the Mediterranean's most soulful and simply beautiful islands," said Mr Kadushin.
He advised those looking to experience the real Mallorca to begin their explorations in the capital city of Palma.
Here, they will find tenth century Arab baths, winding medieval streets and a huge Gothic cathedral, as well as numerous shops selling traditional Mallorcan goods and outdoor cafes serving local dishes.
Afterwards, tourists should head out to the island's north-west coast where "a whole thriving, authentic world opens up", particularly in the village of Valldemossa.
Those renting Mallorca villas in Sa Rapita will be able to drive to Palma in 40 minutes before continuing up towards Valldemossa and the north-west coast.
Sa Rapita also has plenty of authenticity and soul of its own, offering just a small selection of bars and restaurants, so could be great for those seeking peace and quiet.
