Book a Mallorca holiday and visit the Cap de Formentor

Mallorca offers plenty of stunning scenery, but for a real photo opportunity tourists should visit the Cap de Formentor on the northern tip of the island.

According to seemallorca.com, this wild peninsula is just a short drive from Puerto Pollensa and boasts scenery "as dramatic as anyone could wish for".

"Cliffs 400 metres tall jut into the sea, their weird rock formations attracting nesting seabirds, while pine trees seem to grow out of the rocks," it states.

Holiday makers can climb the steps o the Mirador des Colomer for views over a rocky islet, or follow the nearby path to the old watchtower.

From here, they will be able to see the whole of the peninsula and the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia.

They can then continue through the pine woods and the tunnel underneath En Fumat mountain where they can look down at the most inaccessible beach on the island.

At the end of their journey tourists will find a lighthouse and a bar and shop, where they can relax with a cool drink and shop for souvenirs.

Those renting Mallorca villas in Puerto Pollensa will be ideally located for a trip to the Cap de Formentor.

The resort is popular with families because of its many amenities and is home to a mile-long sandy beach stretched around a horseshoe bay.
