Be captivated by the cathedral of 'sea, light and space' during a Mallorca holiday
People planning a Mallorca villa holiday may wish to visit the breathtaking La Seu Cathedral, an amazing medieval structure taking pride of place on Palma de Mallorca's waterfront.
The construction of the gothic-like cathedral started around 1306, with Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi contributing to its formation. It was declared a National Historical Monument in 1931.
Chapter Cathedral of Majorca dean-president Mn. Joan Darder Brotat states that the structure is known as the "cathedral of the sea (very near); of light (planned with 87 stain glass windows and seven rose windows) and the cathedral of space (it is the gothic church that with less stones possesses more space)".
Visitors can tour the buildings every day, except Sunday.
The island of Mallorca offers secluded sandy bays, traditional mountain villages and acres of olive groves, along with a host of activities to cater for the whole family.
After an awe-inspiring trip to the cathedral, indulge in some retail therapy in the bustling shopping streets boasting shoes, leather goods, pottery and assorted handicrafts.
