Visit Lanzarote villas to try award-winning wine

People who have decided to stay in villas in Lanzarote this summer should make sure to check out some award-winning wine during their stay.

The popular hotspot of the Canary Islands has seen six of the 21 awards at the Agrocanarias 2011 Festival being given to its wines, Lanzarote Guide Book.

Taking place in the Canarian archipelago, the event has been acknowledged as the most important attraction of its kind in the area.

Some of the Lanzarote wines to be honoured at the festival included the Moscatel, which is produced by the Bodegas Vega de Yuco. It won the distinction for best presentation and image.

Meanwhile, the Bodega Bermejo-produced Naturally Sweet Moscatel was selected for a gold medal at the event, which could attract some people to buy some of the produce in to try while dining in Lanzarote villas.

For those with a large interest in this drink, Lanazarote's resort of Masdache is home to the El Grifo winery, which dates back to 1775 and features an appealing Wine Museum.
