Trip to Fuerteventura could be combined with Lanzarote holiday

Those taking a holiday in Lanzarote in 2011 may find adding a day or two on the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura to their itinerary is a good move.

That is because the destination has been named by flights comparison site Skyscanner as one of the current top spots to visit.

As the second largest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has some 20 million years of history to its name and a dramatic volcanic landscape.

It is the ideal spot to soak up some rays – with the region renowned for its reliable supply of sunshine at this time of year – and walk along sandy beaches.

The website goes on to note it is home to a number of "spectacular remote bays" and other natural wonders – all of which is just a short boat ride from Lanzarote.

An article on the Heather on her Travels portal recently suggested Lanzarote is a great place for those with an explorer's instinct.
