The green lagoon a sight to behold on Lanzarote holidays
There are many natural attractions to visit on the island of Lanzarote and perhaps the Timanfaya National Park is the most popular.
But explore a little further and there are some spectacular sights to behold, including the green lagoon at El Golfo.
This lake sits in a volcanic crater, half of which has been eroded away by the sea, and is bright green due to the algae that lives in it.
Set against a dramatic backdrop of black sand and cliffs, this natural phenomenon is really something to see.
Indeed, the lagoon even stands out on satellite maps of Lanzarote, as its green hue stands out so dramatically against the landscape.
After marvelling at the lake, tourists can head into the village of El Golfo itself, which has a large number of restaurants serving fresh seafood.
Those renting Lanzarote villas in Yaiza will be able to get to El Golfo and the green lagoon easily by car, as it is just a short drive away.
They will also enjoy some amazing views across the Timanfaya National Park and the surrounding countryside.
Yaiza is a small village with a tranquil square featuring several restaurants and bars, although the bigger resorts of Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen are not far away if holiday makers fancy something a little livelier.
