Spanish president a fan of Lazarote holidays
Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the president of Spain, is a fan of Lanzarote holidays, so much so that he is urging everyone to head to the island.
According to Think Spain, he said anyone who gets a chance to spend time in Lanzarote should do so at least once in their lives.
He was speaking in an interview for a new video with the island's official tourism website in which he insists there are few places in Europe like Lanzarote.
The politician said he has enjoyed several holidays on the Canary island. His last one was earlier this month when he stayed in Costa Teguise with his family.
"Lanzarote is all about nature, life, rest and the friendliness of the people," he insisted. "Of course, anyone who can come should come to Lanzarote."
Families hoping to take the Spanish president's advice can rent their own Lazarote villa in Costa Teguise.
The resort is one of the island's most popular and is home to beautiful beaches and a fun water park.
It is also just five kilometres from the capital Arrecife, where tourists can head for a day trip.
