Snap up Lanzarote villas to see Ironman competition

People booking up Lanzarote villas this year and hoping to seek out a holiday activity that is unique may want to hold off their trip until mid-May.

That is because on May 21st, the Canary Island will be hosting Ironman Lanzarote, known to be one of the toughest competitions of its kind.

Spectators who watch this event while relaxing in villas in Lanzarote will be able to view a trio of events being undertaken by competitors from all over the globe.

Getting the competition underway will be a swim in the Atlantic Ocean which will total around 2.5 miles.

After completing this activity, the athletes will then take part in a 110-mile cycle race, with the toughness being enhanced by the fact that the course ascends over 7,500 feet in elevation.

Rounding off the tournament is a full-length marathon, with competitors having to venture around a windblown, wearing and desiccating climate.

Joel Jameson, who is taking part in this year's Ironman Lanzarote, told of his aims recently, by saying: "If I finish in top five I will be quite happy. In top three I will be very happy. If I would actually win, it would be unbelievable."
