Rise in number of foreign tourists taking holidays to Lanzarote
More people look to be taking up stays in villas in Lanzarote, if the details of the Canary Island destination's latest tourism figures are anything to go by.
According to AENA, the Spanish Airport Authority, 160,441 foreign passengers passed through Lanzarote's Arrecife Airport in October.
The figure represents an 18.81 per cent increase when compared to the number of tourists who visited the travel hub in October 2010.
Brits accounted for the bulk of the passenger total last month, with more than 85,342 tourists from the UK descending on Lanzarote.
Furthermore, this particular statistic now means that 774,864 British passengers have now visited the popular Canary Island destination in 2011 to date – a 12.37 per cent rise on the same period last year.
According to the Lanzarote Guidebook, the six key Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism in Lanzarote has also seen a 6.4 per cent increase in arrivals throughout October.
