Rent a Lanzarote villa and experience Manrique's vision

Families booking Lanzarote holidays will be able to experience first hand the unique vision of the late Cesar Manrique.

In an article for the Independent, travel journalist Ben Ross explained that the artist and designer is credited with preserving the natural beauty of the island.

He said that in the late 1980s, Manrique saw huge danger to the environment in the form of high-rise buildings in some other tourist hotspots.

Determined not to let Lanzarote go the same way, he embarked on an "architectural crusade" using nature as his inspiration.

"Mankind's relatively restrained impact on the landscape here is plain to see," stated Mr Ross.

"Manrique's aesthetic of low-rise, whitewashed buildings works perfectly against the stark backdrop of this raw and rugged Atlantic outpost," he remarked.

Those renting Lanzarote villas in Oasis de Nazaret will be able to visit the famous restaurant that was designed by Manrique and once owned by actor Omar Sharif.

This quiet traditional village offers some spectacular views of Lanzarote's natural landscape, from the rugged mountains to the Atlantic Ocean below.

A short drive will take holiday makers to the capital Arrecife where they can enjoy a day trip.
