New Canary Island to appear?

People who take up a stay in villas in Lanzarote could be able to explore a new Canary Island in the years to come.

Up to 10,000 earthquakes have been recorded around the archipelago since the beginning of the summer.

Disruption from the tremors has so far been kept to a minimum though, with the largest measuring just 3.2 on the Richter scale.

However, those taking trips to Lanzarote villas may be interested to hear that the natural occurrences could soon bring about a new destination in the Canary Islands.

The collection of earthquakes has opened up a 120-metre wide crater under the sea, with a depth of around 300 metres.

Such developments could allow for new land to appear above sea level in the region in the years to come.

In the meantime, families may want to check out Lanzarote in February 2012, as the island will be getting into the party mood to usher in the Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen carnivals.
