Many Brits 'still planning holidays despite economic worries'

Despite the economic crisis, many families in the UK are still looking to take a holiday in the coming 12 months, perhaps to villas in Lanzarote.

According to a new study by YouGov, which saw 2,057 adults questioned, 65 per cent of respondents are hoping to enjoy a getaway of five days or more sometime throughout 2012.

When asked about how much the economic downturn has affected their holiday plans, 26 per cent replied that they will be enjoying a getaway despite being concerned.

Another 18 per cent will wait until a closer date to book their trip, though six per cent have no worries in this area and have already snapped up their next holiday.

Mark Tanzer, the chief executive of ABTA, commented: "Household budgets are feeling the pinch but for years we have seen that holidays are the last to be cut back in tough times."

People taking last-minute flights to Lanzarote villas should be sure to check out The Hiding Place of the Sirens exhibition if they are fans of art, as the event sees a host of dazzling works by Gran Canarian artist Nuria Meseguer displayed for guests to marvel at.
